Greetings CHBC Family,
Many have expressed concerns regarding the global health pandemic “Coronavirus a.k.a COVID-19” and what Carmody Hills Baptist Church’s response will be to the events taking place in our world. 1. We are Still the Church I know there is great anxiety building as we hear the news reports and see the posts regarding the spread of the outbreak. However, be reminded, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 We gather together week-in and week-out to strengthen and encourage one another in the faith. We will remain OPEN to bring hope, healing, and restoration to each other and our community. As we gather together let us be encouraged by the Word of God; sing the songs of praise and pray for those who have been affected by the disease while praying a hedge of protection for our homes and neighborhoods. However, as we gather, we must remain proactive and preventive. 2. Ways the Church is Being Proactive At my urging, I have instructed Wiley (our maintenance supervisor) to disinfect all surfaces, including but not limited to; walls, doors, doorknobs, and handrails, etc. Wiley will be wiping and disinfecting twice daily. We have provided bottles of hand sanitizers at all the major entrances of the church. We have also placed cans of Lysol and Clorox wipes in the restrooms for your use before and after utilizing the facilities. Through consultation with the IGNITE Youth Ministry we have canceled the following events and activities:
The Young at Heart Trip to the Kennedy Center to see the Opera “Blue” has been CANCELLED by the Kennedy Center. More information will be forthcoming. As of right now, the Sight and Sound Trip to Lancaster, PA to see the performance “Esther” is still on for the foreseeable future but is subject to change at any time. We are in discussions with Diamond Tours in regards to the Memphis Trip. The trip is still on for right now, however, they are awaiting word from the CDC and other National Health Organizations in regards to “motor transportation” within the continental United States of America. Persons may choose to not attend for personal reasons, however, they will not receive a refund from the Church nor Diamond Tours, nor will the travel insurance cover your absence from the trip due to the Coronavirus. As we are taking proactive precautions to keep our congregation safe, please know that you and your family can also prevent the spread of the virus. 3. How You Can Prevent the Spread of the Virus There are simple everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses. These include:
As more information comes forward from the Centers for Disease Control we will keep you informed of events and activities taking place in our church. In His Service, Senior Pastor Oscar L. Broadie, Jr. |
